Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Black History Month kicked off our week. A proclamation for National Black History Month to “recognize the amazing and everlasting efforts and accomplishments of Black descendants of the African diaspora in Hennepin County” was brought before the board by my colleague Commissioner Angela Conley.

Additionally, the board approved more than $1.5 million in Environmental Response Fund grants to 11 projects, in the county, to assess and clean up contaminated sites. We also approved funding for safety improvements along Highway 12.

I attended Hennepin Healthcare's Redleaf Center for Family Healing's key turnover ceremony. The new center offers mental health and parenting support for families. In addition to the Mother-Baby Program’s mental health services, the Redleaf Center for Family Healing will offer new ways to support families

I welcome you to reach out to our office so we may be of service.

Sincerely,

Chris

I am grateful to have attended Hennepin Healthcare's Redleaf Center for Family Healing key turnover ceremony earlier this week. I'm excited to see the work this one-of-a-kind center will do to support mental health and parenting capacity by providing support for families that need it the most.

Hennepin History Museum's New Local Heroes Exhibit 🩺

Room with artifacts and descriptions of a local heroes exhibit

The Hennepin History Museum opened a powerful new “Local Heroes” exhibit this week. The exhibit celebrates 100 years of efforts to provide the best healthcare to the residents of Hennepin County while exposing themes of exclusion – to both patients and caregivers alike –including disparities in healthcare options, restrictions to healthcare careers based on gender or ethnicity, and patients’ rights.

I am incredibly grateful for the sacrifices healthcare professionals have made and continue to make every single day, especially during this pandemic. Their dedication to caring for our communities and protecting the public speaks volumes about their courage and compassion.
