Dear Neighbors and Friends,

As our team marks the end of our first month, there’s one message I want you to hear: We are at your service. You’ll find contact information below for my team, Jessica Oaxaca (District Director) and Kyle Olson (Policy Director).

Over the past several weeks we’ve heard from many of you on topics ranging from how to navigate small business grants, to better understanding Hennepin County’s role in the vaccination effort. Please know that no matter your question or comment, ideas for better government or immediate need, providing you with excellent service is our number one priority.

More below on the ways we’ve been working hard for you this week.

Together in service,

Chris

MCWD District 6 Overlap

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District provided our office with a thorough and exciting briefing about the work they are doing to protect the creek for future generations. I was born near its banks at Methodist hospital. My boys run the St. Louis Park boardwalk and capture crawdads at Big Willow in
Minnetonka.

On Tuesday the City of Eden Prairie, in partnership with the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce, and Eden Prairie Schools, presented important updates about the ways they're serving our community, families, students, and small businesses at the State of the City event.

🏠Hennepin County is seeking proposals for affordable housing, supportive housing and transit oriented development projects. With $9.5 million in gap funding and $5 million for supportive housing development projects, a total of $14.5 million is available.

We expect that funding to support 700-800 units of housing and improved transit access. Learn more, here.

COVID-19 Information

💉 As Hennepin County continues working to mitigate the spread and impact of COVID-19, vaccines will be a critical tool to keeping our communities healthy. Equally as important is transparency in communicating updates.

📊 Starting this week, under the ‘Vaccination updates’ on our COVID-19 response page we’ll be publishing data on the number of people in Hennepin County with at least one vaccine dose, a completed vaccine series and total doses received by Hennepin County Public Health and total vaccinations administered by the county.
