To minimize direct contact with others due to COVID-19, all Minnesota voters are encouraged to request an absentee ballot for the Nov. 3 General Election. Election Day is right around the corner, and early voting is currently underway.
Common Mistakes - vote by mail
Mailed-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, but the ballots will still be accepted up until a week later.
The second most common mistake is that the voter’s signature and voter ID number don’t match. The voter ID number is either a person’s driver’s license/ID number or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Along with a signature, it’s required for the ballot to be counted.

Hennepin County collaborates with communities to provide COVID-19 community testing events in areas with outbreaks, increasing cases, and barriers to testing like insurance and transportation.
Testing is free and open to everyone. No insurance, registration, or citizenship required.
If you have symptoms, or if you have no symptoms but think you've been exposed, you should get tested.

The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota invites you to the launch of a series of conversations with writers across genres, discussing the experience of migration, leaving one's home, and building a new one.
Jia Lynn Yang, New York Times Deputy National Editor, wrote One Mighty and Irresistible Tide: The Epic Struggle Over American Immigration, 1924-1965 "to fuse my family's history to the history of the country that found a place for us."
On September 24, the county board received an update on progress towards developing the county’s climate action plan, The plan will include initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strategies to adapt to the changing climate in ways that reduce vulnerabilities and ensure a more equitable and resilient Hennepin County. Staff recommended seven climate strategies that will serve as a solid foundation for the county to advance a coordinated response to climate change. See the presentation (PDF) for details.
Staff will now shift efforts to conducting community engagement, which involves outreach to community groups, businesses, and foundations. Residents can also expect online options to engage on our goals and strategies for climate action this fall and early winter. Staff aim to share a draft of the Climate Action Plan with the board by the end of 2020. Board adoption of the plan, which would include a formal public comment process, would occur in 2021.

Minnesota is lagging behind almost all other states in the number of people who have been contacted by a census taker to complete the form.
Each person counted for the census equals an extra $28,000 in state and federal spending per person over the next decade! If you don't get counted, our entire community misses out on vital support.

Historian Jacqui deVries will lead a 2-mile tour of women's suffrage sites in downtown Minneapolis. Walk in the footsteps of local activists and reformers of a century ago. You will see glimpses of their world, their challenges, and their values. You will also explore how the suffrage movement fell short in the quest for inclusion.
This in-person walking tour is limited to 10 participants plus 2 hosts. Masks are required for everyone except the presenter. We ask participants to maintain 6 feet of distance between households.
