May 2019
Summer brings longer days, which can mean lazy evenings reading outside, traveling to getaway destinations, and more chances to explore places and ideas while the sun shines down.
If you're looking for things to read this summer, we have a lot to offer. In this issue, discover the rich history of our local music scene, try a new series to get your "Game of Thrones" fix, find out how to download popular magazines to your devices, and learn how to use tags in our catalog.
Minnesotans love music, and we’re known for our recording studios, independent record stores, music festivals, landmark music venues and amazing artists. Discover the real stories behind the music of some local favorites, and maybe find a new favorite of your own.
HBO’s adaptation of “Game of Thrones” comes to an end in 2019, but if your thirst for similar epics with fascinating characters and larger-than-life drama remains, start fresh with Book 1 of another great series.
Read popular magazines in your web browser or download them via an app. There’s no limit to how many you can check out, and they may be kept indefinitely. Free access is limited to the library collection. Find the RBdigital app in the App Store, Google Play, and KindleFire.
Tags, words and phrases that are significant to you, may be added to any title in the library catalog. Tags can help you organize your shelves, find new favorites and provide a shared language used by fans of a work. A personal tag might be “book club,” a tone tag might be “exciting," a theme tag might be “coming of age,” and a genre tag might be “self-help.” Tags work alongside author, title and subject information to enrich the library’s catalog.
To add or click on a tag, go to the title page in the catalog and look on the right side. Under “Explore Further,” scroll down to Tags. If you click on a tag it will bring up a search results page listing all titles using it. You may also search for tags in the catalog by selecting the tag dropdown in the Search box.
Engage in book clubs, writing and discussion groups, and author talks.
