Hennepin County weekly voting progress

Each week, Hennepin County will provide the latest stats on absentee voting progress and pre-registered voters for the 2018 Minnesota general election. Absentee voting in Minnesota began Friday, September 21.

Absentee voting

As of Monday, October 15, at 8 a.m. in Hennepin County:

Ballots issued

  • Total ballots issued (mail and in-person absentee voting) – 80,000
  • Ballots issued since Monday, October 8 – 22,800

 Ballots received and accepted

  • Total ballots received and accepted (mail and in-person absentee voting) – 31,200
  • Ballots received and accepted since Monday, October 8 – 13,300

For comparison, 22 days before the 2016 general election, 75,700 absentee ballots were issued and 37,200 were received and accepted in Hennepin County.

Hennepin County cities with the highest numbers of absentee voters:

  • Minneapolis: 7,220
  • Plymouth: 3,050
  • Minnetonka: 2,710
  • Bloomington: 2,570
  • Edina: 2,370

Pre-registered voters

Hennepin County has 762,000 pre-registered voters for the Minnesota general election.

The deadline to pre-register is Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Register at On Election Day, voters also may register to vote at their polling place.
