Wayzata Boulevard (County Road 112) in Long Lake and Orono
Underground utility crossings nearing completion
Earlier this week, crews replaced six of the seven underground utility crossings located between east of Old Long Lake Road and west of Wayzata Boulevard West.
This morning, crews began replacing the final utility crossing located between the entrances of Birches on the Lake. Replacement work is expected to be completed by late afternoon today. Crews will then grade and temporarily gravel this final crossing through the weekend, before paving next week.
Access for local residents and to businesses
Until the final crossing work is complete, local residents within the closure area between Birches on the Lake and Wayzata Boulevard West will only be able to get to and from their homes coming from the east on Wayzata Boulevard. This also applies to people driving to get to the local businesses in the closure area.
We will open up access for local residents and to businesses coming to and from the west on Wayzata Boulevard once this final crossing is done later this afternoon.
Through traffic, continue to use the detour
Wayzata Boulevard between Wolf Pointe Trail and Wayzata Boulevard West will remain closed to through traffic. Continue to use the detour following Highway 12 to get around the closure.
Paving to follow on June 18
Traffic will reduce to a single lane at paving locations
Crews
will return at 7 a.m., Monday, June 18, to pave each of the seven crossings.
Paving
will be completed on one
half of the road at a time, in order to maintain access for local residents and
to businesses in the closure area.
Flaggers will
be on site to guide people driving on Wayzata Boulevard and those exiting side
streets, where necessary. Expect hourly traffic configuration and flagging
location changes during paving.
Also expect delays, especially
during busy commuting hours. For your safety and the safety of
our crews, please exercise caution and slow down as you travel through the
area.
Weather permitting, paving in all locations is
expected to be complete by Tuesday.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue project
work in this area.
