Step to it challenge winners announced

During the Step to it challenge this May, participants tracked more than 1.1 billion steps, exceeding last year's step count by more than 129 million.

More than 5,500 people living and working in 24 metro area communities took steps toward a healthier lifestyle during the physical activity challenge this May.

Winning communities

  • Most active community: Crystal, 97,710,000 total steps 
  • Most active residents: Shorewood, 438,100 average steps per resident
  • Most engaged community: Osseo, nearly 3 percent resident participation

  • Most active school: School of Engineering and Arts (SEA), Robbinsdale School District

Step to it is an activity challenge that motivates people of all ages and abilities to become more active during the month of May. Residents can convert a variety of activities to steps, such as running, cycling, dancing and manual wheel chair use. Residents, communities and schools engage in friendly competition to win prizes and awards.
