Media advisory: County officials to release HIV strategy at World AIDS Day event

HIV is preventable and treatable, which now makes it stoppable. 

The newly developed "Positively Hennepin" plan will leverage recent medical advancements and broader coordination of health and medical resources to achieve aggressive HIV-reduction goals. 

WHAT: Local and state health and elected leaders will gather on World AIDS Day to launch “Positively Hennepin” at this public/media event. Participants will be available for media interviews after the program.

WHEN: Thursday, December 1, 2016 noon to 1 p.m. 

WHERE: Hennepin County Government Center, skyway level atrium, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis

WHO: Panelists include: 

  • Jan Callison, Hennepin County commissioner and board chair
  • Scott Dibble, Minnesota Senate, south Minneapolis 
  • Susan Palchick, director, Hennepin County Public Health
  • Paul Allwood, assistant commissioner, Minnesota Department of Health
  • Nicholas Vogenthaler, M.D., clinical director, Red Door at Hennepin County Public Health Clinic and Positive Care Center at HCMC
  • Jonathan Hanft, coordinator, Hennepin County Ryan White Program
