Learn about Hennepin County's work to make our beaches safer for swimmers

Going to the beach is supposed to be fun and relaxing; and it usually is. But waterborne illnesses, such as E. coli, can quickly turn summer into a bummer.

To ensure our lakes are safe, Hennepin County’s Public Health Department samples and analyzes water at 31 public swimming beaches each week from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Join us to see environmentalist Alison Malecek lead a demonstration of the beach water monitoring process on Wednesday, July 13, at 9 a.m., at Wayzata Beach, 220 Grove Lane East, Wayzata.

The demonstration is meant to help inform the public about our beach water monitoring practices, as well as to alert them to Hennepin County's beaches webpage, www.hennepin.us/beaches, where they can check for beach closings and other information.
