Thank you volunteers!

volunteers

April 10-16 is National Volunteer Recognition Week. There are more than 200 residents who donate their time to work at the Sheriff’s Office.

Volunteers in the jail provide mentoring and class instruction to inmates. Our Special Deputy volunteers attend community events to provide safety information and they patrol the waterways and roadways. All the members of the Sheriff's Mounted Patrol are volunteers too!

Last fall, we were awarded a $250,000 federal grant to hire two additional members to our CET. Sheriff urges convenient medicine disposal

testimon

On March 16, Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek testified at the Minnesota State Capitol in support of a bill that would allow pharmacies to take-back unwanted prescription medication for disposal.

Changing the law would be a big step in the right direction for our fight against prescription drug abuse. Currently law enforcement is allowed to collect unwanted medicine for disposal, however pharmacies are not allowed to do so.
