Here is your Minnesota Fall Color Update, brought to you by Explore Minnesota and the Minnesota State Parks and Trails. You'll receive this email Thursday afternoons during the peak fall color season, making it easier than ever to make every day a colorful fall adventure.

FALL COLOR FINDER

Fall color continues to progress rapidly this year, with much of the northern half of Minnesota approaching peak fall color. The ash, aspen and birch trees are full of bright yellow leaves, and fiery red and orange leaves fill most maples and sumac. The prairie grasses have taken on rich gold, red and purple hues.

Northwest Minnesota

Vivid fall color is prominent in most trees, shrubs and prairie grasses. The ash, birch and elm trees are quickly turning yellow, and the maples, big-tooth aspen and sumac are filled with red, peach and yellow-orange leaves. Many areas are approaching peak fall color.

Northeast Minnesota

Stunning red, orange, apricot and yellow leaves fill the maples, understory shrubs and sumac, and bright shades of yellow and orange are rapidly developing in the ash, aspen, birch and basswood trees. Many areas are approaching peak fall color.

Central Minnesota

Most maples and understory shrubs are displaying bright red, orange and yellow leaves, while the ash, elm and aspen are adding a golden-yellow glow to the landscape. The native grasses are nearing peak shades of rich gold, bronze, maroon and purple.

Fall color is advancing rapidly, with some areas one-third of the way to peak fall color. Many maples are filled with red, orange and peach colored leaves, and the sumac and vines are a vibrant crimson red. Landscapes are saturated with golden-yellow fall color found in the ash, cottonwood, elm, hackberry and other tree species.

Prairies throughout Minnesota's southern region are overflowing with beauty as they near peak fall color. The sumac and various species of trees including the ash, basswood and maples are quickly turning color and adding bright red, golden-orange and brilliant yellow to the landscapes.
