FALL COLOR FINDER
MN DNR map showing fall color throughout the state

Fall color has developed rapidly in the southeast portion of southern Minnesota. Most maples are at or just past peak shades of red, orange, apricot and yellow, and the aspen, oaks and other tree species are lovely shades of yellow, gold, orange and maroon. The overlooks of the bluffs and river valleys are especially breathtaking.

While fall color is past peak in most areas of the Twin Cities, lots of vibrant yellow, golden-orange and red trees and understory shrubs remain.

All of central, northwest and northeast Minnesota are past peak, but pockets of nice fall color can still be found in some areas.

Many areas of southeast Minnesota are at or just past peak fall color. Abundant bright red, orange and yellow trees cover the 500-foot Mississippi River bluffs, as well as the limestone bluffs and deep ravines in southeastern Minnesota's Bluff Country. Rich maroon, rust and golden oaks add to the display. The sumac and other understory shrubs contribute vibrant shades of scarlet, peach and orange to the fall color show. To the west, fall colors in the south-central and southwest portions of Minnesota are now past peak.

Much of the Minneapolis-St. Paul vicinity is now past peak, however, vibrant yellow, gold and orange leaves are visible in areas protected from the wind. Across the region, oak trees burst with rich shades of rust, maroon and orange.
