Fiery red, vivid yellow and blazing orange leaves blanket much of northern Minnesota's deciduous trees, with many now at peak fall color. Scattered patches of near-peak crimson and yellow leaves can be found in parts of central and southern Minnesota, while fall color in the metro area is still heating up. Plan this week's adventure to view the glorious fall splendor before it's too late. |

|
Peak fall color has arrived in northeast Minnesota! Maple trees are bursting with a kaleidoscope of peach, fuchsia and bright yellow leaves. Ash and aspen trees are quickly turning yellow, brightening the landscape and fostering a deep sense of warmth.

Increasing amounts of red and orange leaves can be seen among the already rich backdrop of gold and orange colors. The tall prairie grasses in many parks are a deep maroon and gold.

The maples are turning bright yellow, orange and red, and the ash trees are a stunning yellow. Sumac coloring varies from orange to vibrant red and crimson, and the prairie grasses remain gold, maroon and purple. The oaks are taking on burgundy hues.

Pops of color are visible in the maples and there has been a general lightening of the forests overall. The sumac and dogwood remain very colorful, with bright red and deep crimson hues. Prairie grasses across the metro dot the landscape with maroon and gold.

The sumac has turned brilliant shades of scarlet and crimson, while the ash, aspen and maple trees are adding buttery yellow and fiery reddish-orange hues to the forest canopy. Golden tones fill the tall grass prairies. Watch for migrating great blue herons and egrets.
