News From Kathy Kaiser

Happy New Year from the Centennial Elementary School Staff.

I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and re-energizing winter break.  Last Thursday when the students returned to school they were happy, well rested, and ready to learn!

Just a few quick reminders:

School Bus:   If you children ride the school bus, please remind them that Pokemon cards or other toys are not allowed on the bus or at school.  Before break we began having multiple issues with this on nearly all of our buses.

Breakfast:   School breakfast is served 8:50-9:10 am.  The tardy bell rings at 9:15, so children arriving in for breakfast after 9:10 simply won’t have time to eat and get to class on time.  The only exception is students arriving on a late bus.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kids Heart Challenge has kicked off!

Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association.

Hello!  Starting this week I am kicking off our Kids Heart Challenge service learning event (formerly Jump Rope for Heart). Kids Heart Challenge focuses on heart-healthy habits while giving students the opportunity to help others who are affected by cardiovascular disease. Please be sure to ask your child about our service learning project and what they can do to make a difference. The first part of the Kids Heart Challenge is to encourage students to take care of their own hearts by making healthy choices. Participation is simple. All you have to do is help your student Register Online and then take the heart challenge. When registered, students will choose to work on one of three things: “Be Ready”; “Be Kind” and/or “Move More”. Students will then be able to login daily to keep their STREAK going!

Just for taking the challenge you can help Centennial Elementary earn $500 in Physical Education equipment.  All we need is 50% of our students to register and take the challenge.  No fundraising required!

Step 1: Register

Go to http://www2.heart.org/goto/centennial  OR download the free mobile app!

Step 2: Take the Challenge

Students choose to work on healthy habits, all while earning a free, buildable virtual wristband!

Step 3: Collect Donations to help save lives and earn our Heart Heroes!

The more you raise, the more heroes you earn.

School Incentives:

  • School earns additional $500 when 50% of the students Register Online!
  • Top participating class will earn a choice day in PE.
  • Top 3 fundraisers will “Silly String” Mrs. Verplaetse

Thank you in advance for participating and helping the American Heart Association and Centennial Elementary save lives!

Heartfelt thanks,
Mrs. Verplaetse
Physical Education Specialist and Kids Heart Challenge Coordinator

Are you in need of Kids Club care for the 2020-21 school year and/or Summer 2020?  Kids Club’s registration process is changing, and begins in January.  Find out more about the registration windows and lottery as well as enrollment options.  2020-21 School Year   Summer 2020

Preschool Registration opens January 15

Preschool registration for the 20-21 school year is by lottery. Registration opens on January 15, and registrations submitted by 8 am on January 31 will be included in the lottery.  Centennial Preschool classrooms are located at Blue Heron, Centerville, Centennial, Golden Lake, Rice Lake Elementary and the Early Childhood Center.

Completing a registration does not guarantee placement in a class, and registering earlier does not increase your chance of receiving a placement. Registrations received after 8am on January 31 will be reviewed in the order received after all lottery registrations are processed. A $40 registration fee is charged if and when your child’s contract is approved.
