News From Kathy Kaiser

Wouldn’t you like to see Mr. Magnuson with an incredibly silly or weird hairdo?  Maybe you would like to see Mr. McCready with some crazy designs in his beard.  Here is your chance to make that happen!

Perhaps you have heard of No Shave November or Mo-Vember, as it is sometimes called.  During the month of November some male staff members at our school have decided to support men’s health and the fight against men’s cancers, and cancer in general, by not shaving or cutting their hair.  Mr. McCready (4th grade), Mr. Riley (5th grade), Mr. Magnuson (5th grade), Mr. Jim (custodian), and Mr. Nickel (2nd grade) would like to challenge our school to bring in money to support the American Cancer Society and our Centennial Elementary Parent Organization (CEPO).

During the week of November 18-22, students can bring in coins, bills, or checks (made payable to CEPO) to “vote” for one or more of the adults participating.  Any of the adults who have at least $200 dollars in their bucket by the end of the week will have to create a funny and embarrassing haircut and beard design to wear at school on Nov. 25th and Nov. 26th.  Thank you for supporting these causes.

cold weather

Get ready for the impact of winter weather by checking out the district's school closing information.  This link provides information on what happens when school is closed for the day, closes early, or starts late due to weather or an emergency.

Recess:  Students will have a shortened recess if the air temperature or wind-chill is between  -1 to -9 Fahrenheit. *Students will have indoor recess if the air temperature or wind-chill is -10 F or colder.

Please send your child to school with a warm jacket, hat, mittens or gloves, and boots and snow pants when necessary.

Reminder from the Health Office

In the past couple of weeks there has been an increase in illnesses within our school.  REMEMBER: The best defense against illness is GOOD HANDWASHING. Also it’s important that if your child is not feeling well to keep him/her home so they are allowed
plenty of rest and given lots of fluids. They should not return to school until they have
been fever free (without the use of a fever reducing medication), have not vomited or had
diarrhea for 24 hours.

If your student will be late (arriving after 9:15 am) or missing school due to illness, appointments, or vacation you may email with this information, or leave a message on the Attendance Line at at 763-792-5307.

Pizza T Tuesdays!
Pizza T in Lino Lakes donates a portion of sales from each Tuesday to our school which we use for our PBIS program.  No coupon is required.  Pizza T automatically holds the proceeds for our school.

Please visit Pizza T at 6511 Ware Road or place your order online.

Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 13th at 5:30 pm in the CTE Conference room for our next meeting.  Superintendent Dietz will be joining us to provide an update on the district and to answer parent questions.
