Message from the Principal....

Dear Centerville Parents,

I want to thank all of the families who donated to the CPTA direct drive and for providing food during parent teacher conferences.  From the direct drive the CPTA raised just over $22,000 to help our school.  The November 13th CPTA meeting is the funding request meeting.   This is where teachers make funding requests to the CPTA and you are welcome to attend.  In order to vote where money is spent you have to be a member of CPTA.  All parents are welcome to join, $15 for an individual membership or $20 for a family membership.  This supportive group and your generous donations help make a lot of wonderful things happen here at Centerville Elementary!

Our book character parade for grades preK – 4 will be at 2:30 on October 31st.  If weather permits the parade route will be extended to include the front and west sidewalk.

At our two-hour late start, on November 1st, teachers will be provided additional training for our new language arts curriculum.  At the same time paraprofessionals and secretaries will receive training on equity and access.  We know that late starts create challenges for families, but we also want to express that the time is valuable for ongoing professional development.

Have a great weekend,

Wayne Whitwam

Centerville Elementary Principal

The Book Fair is Coming!

The fall book fair is coming to Centerville on November 15th.  It will run through November 21st.  More info coming with the times it will be open.

Here are the minutes to the October CPTA meeting:

Congratulations to Mrs. Brown's Kindergarten class.  Her class will win a pizza party as they were the class with the most donations.

On Monday, October 29th, the permission slip for the limo ride and for the t-shirts will be going out to those that donated either $50 or $100.  They are due back no later than Friday, November 2nd.

The CPTA will be selling Cougar Pride apparel online for 1 week only. There are choices for adults and children. Excellent ideas for Christmas gifts. Also, there will be more info on the PTA Facebook page coming soon.  The online store opens Monday, October 29th.  REMEMBER...1 WEEK ONLY!

Family Bingo Night is also going to be selling raffle tickets.  Here are a couple of the prizes: Hover board and Razor Sled.  Don't miss out!

Winter is coming!  Are you tired of losing those warm winter coats, your beautiful hat your Aunt Sally gave you or even that lunchbox that carries your favorite water bottle in it?  If your name is on each item, you will get that item back if it is sent to the lost and found.  Once a month a volunteer goes through the lost and found and pulls out everything with a name on it.  The office will then send out an email to the teachers to have those students pick up their items.  Everything else will be packed up and delivered to a charity.  Please make sure all items have initials on them.  The CPTA highly recommends Mabel's Labels.  They are labels that won't come off in the wash and are waterproof.  If you might be interested, I am attaching the website URL down below.  Make sure you click on "Support a Fundraiser" and look for Centerville Elementary CPTA.
