TRF Project Update: August 20, 2020
What's happening today?
Work continues in TRF! Crews are expecting to move to Phase 2 on the Hwy 1 roundabouts in the next week. We will keep you posted!
Project Updates
MnDOT
Hwy 1 Roundabouts in TRF
- This week: Crews worked on concrete placement between Barzen and Ruby. Box culverts were also installed between 6th Street and the Highway 1/59 intersection.
- Next week: Grading and ditch work between Ruby Avenue and the Highway 1/59 intersection. Phase 2 will begin. (Date to be determined.)
- Traffic Impacts: Motorists will continue to use the detour onto 1st St W. Update once Phase 2 begins. Phase 2 detour: 190th St. NE and 120 Ave. NW.

Hwy 32 Resurface between TRF and St. Hilaire
Hwy 1 Resurfacing east of TRF
- This week:Entrance pipe replacement has begun. Crews began milling on the west end of the project.
- Next week: Continued entrance pipe placement and milling. Crews will begin reclaim.
- Traffic Impacts: Detour onto Pennington County Roads 18, 44, 2, 12 and Highway 219.

Hwy 1 and 75: Argyle and Warren
- This week: Concrete placed on the north side of Highway 1 and west side of Highway 75. Crews also finished underground work in Warren and Argyle.
- Next week: Crews will continue concrete placement as well as bituminous patching along the curb.
- Traffic Impacts: Parking lanes are currently closed throughout the project.

Pennington County
Hwy 32 Roundabout at CR 8/Mark Blvd
- This week: The roundabout is open to traffic with the exception of the CR 8 leg which crews have began work on.
- Next week: Crews will continue removals and aggregate base on the CR 8 leg of the roundabout.
- Traffic Impacts: The roundabout is open to traffic next week except for the east leg of CR 8.

CR 8/Mark Blvd route extension and roundabout
- This week: At the Challenger Elementary roundabout, crews continue placing concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk. At the CR 8 bridge, crews have continued working on forming the deck and steel work.
- Next week: At the roundabout, crews will begin paving. At CR 8 bridge, crews will begin the concrete deck pour.
- Traffic Impacts: The intersection at Pennington Ave near Challenger Elementary is currently closed and a detour is in place.
- Detour onto Greenwood St, Hwy 59 and 140th St NE

- Construct a diversion channel and drainage infrastructure on the west side of TRF. Underground storm sewer will be installed along Barzen Ave and Greenwood St, along with a new sanitary sewer

Storm Sewer & Force Main Installation:
Minnesota Northern Railroad began removing track and bridge materials this week near the intersection of Highway 32 and Greenwood Street. RJ Zavoral's will remove the remainder of the bridge and will begin installing force main and storm sewer pipe in this location by the end of this week. There are no detours or closures at this moment for this location but motorists should use caution when traveling near Greenwood Street and Brooks Avenue as there will be large equipment near the roadway.
Final grading over the storm sewer along Barzen Avenue is taking place. Motorists should use caution through this area as there are trucks unloading material. There are no street closures along Barzen Avenue at this moment.
Diversion Channel Construction:
They continue to work along County Road 16. County Road 61 is open. Caution should be taken by motorists as Zavoral is moving material across County Road 61 from east to west.

- Replace Hwy 1 culvert west of the intersection with Hwy 59
- This week: Paving is complete. There will be some finish work on the road slopes and striping in the coming weeks.
- Traffic Impacts: None.
- Replace Pennington CR 7 box culvert
- This week: Crews are installing the box culvert. Traffic is detoured.
- Next week: Crews expect the detour to be lifted later next week, weather permitting.
- Traffic Impacts: Detour.
