The Minnesota Department of Transportation remains open and will continue to provide services to Minnesotans. Following guidance from state health officials to prevent further spread of COVID-19 and protect public health, many MnDOT employees are now working remotely and the agency has adjusted some services, events and operations. You will find the latest details below.
What’s open
- MnDOT maintenance and construction services continue.
- Transportation offices remain open to the public.
- Rest areas statewide are currently open. Onsite workers have been provided with personal protective equipment and are using hospital-grade disinfectants every half hour or immediately after multiple people leave a rest area building.
- While all Minnesotans are being encouraged to stay home as much as possible and avoid non-essential travel, roads and state highways remain open. (Note that some closures are possible due to weather, flooding or other circumstances unrelated to COVID-19. Please check 511mn.org for latest conditions in your area.)
Postponed events
- All previously scheduled MnDOT-hosted meetings, conferences, training and other programs.
- Open houses for upcoming construction projects through at least April 15. We are looking at alternative ways to host these meetings online and gather public input.
