Safe Routes to School Academy applications – Due Sept. 20
Whether you are just launching SRTS or need help energizing an existing SRTS team, consider applying for a SRTS Academy workshop! These workshops are tailored to fit your needs and offered to interested communities on an ongoing basis. The workshop is taught by a combination of SRTS practitioners from MDH, MnDOT and Blue Cross and provide a customized approach to advancing SRTS in your community.
At a SRTS workshop, advocates join local, county and regional staff to learn how to plan and support SRTS efforts to help create a state where all students can walk and bicycle on routes that are safe, comfortable and convenient. Workshops are customized for a community’s SRTS goals. Target audiences include engineers, law enforcement, planners, public health practitioners, school administrators, elected officials, students, parents and advocates.
Safe Routes Academy will offer a limited number of SRTS Workshops in Minnesota, with applications due Friday, Sept. 20. View the application.
Walk to School Day is Oct. 2 - Registration open!
Minnesota’s annual Walk to School Day is coming soon, so register today. MnDOT will send marketing posters, educational bookmarks and stickers (on a first come, first serve basis) to hand out the day of the big event.

Walk to School Day photo contest
We would love to see what Walk to School Day looks like at your school! We’ll be holding our fourth annual Walk to School Day photo contest. Submit your photos the day of on the Minnesota Safe Routes to School Facebook page with the hashtag #mnwalks and you will be entered to win prizes for your school.
