Project work details

Nine Mile Creek Bridge on Hwy 169 between Bren Rd. in Minnetonka and 7th St. (5th St. – Lincoln Dr. exit) in Edina will close in both directions by 2 a.m. Mon, Jan. 23. The northbound and southbound ramps going toward the bridge will also close.

Southbound Hwy 169 from Excelsior Blvd. to 7th St. and northbound Hwy 169 from Hwy 62 to Bren Rd. will be reduced to one lane. The exit ramp from westbound I-394 to southbound Hwy 169 will be closed during the project to encourage non-local southbound traffic to take the detour routes and for safety reasons.

See the project website for a map of road/ramp closures.

Motorists are advised to follow the detours to bypass the closure:

  • Northbound detour: EB Hwy 62, NB Hwy 100, WB I-394 to Hwy 169
  • Southbound detour: WB I-394, SB I-494 to Hwy 169

The bridge closure and lane reductions are necessary as crews remove the Nine Mile Creek Bridge, which is being replaced. The bridge will take a month to remove and construction of a causeway is expected to last through October, weather permitting.

Interactive map

An interactive map provides another resource during construction to keep up to date on Hwy 169 construction. The map can be found on the project website or by going to mndot.gov/metro/projects/hwy169hopkins/#interactivemap and provides the following features:

  • Allows users to navigate to specific project work in the construction area to learn more about it.
  • It has accessible features, including a legend, sidebar with detailed information about the map and an alternative format available.
  • Will provide current project work, traffic impacts and schedule information.

This map will be updated as the project progresses. Please check back often and share this map with others.
