ENRTF Commissioner Approval of Land Acquisition & Interest

As of July 1, 2013, all land or conservation easements acquired with trust fund dollars must be approved by DNR Commissioner Landwehr prior to acquiring the land or an interest in the land. This new requirement that is mandated in Minnesota Statutes 116P.17 applies when any ENRTF dollars are used to acquire land or an interest in land including personnel, contracts, and other ENRTF related costs.

Please submit your Commissioner Approval requests well in advance of your closing date so your Grants Specialist can route that approval form accordingly within the department.

The form requires DNR Division Director recommendation prior to Commissioner approval. Forms must be submitted to your Grants Specialist at least 10 business days prior to closing, but the sooner, the better.

DNR Grants Unit

New Team Member

The Grants Unit would like to announce the addition of Karen Mueller to our team. Karen comes to us from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Homeland Security and Emergency Management division, where Karen worked as a Grants Specialist for the past two years.

Karen joined us January 8th and will eventually work with a  majority of Pat Donnell's current grantees as Pat moves into his new permanent role as the DNR's Federal Aid Coordinator. Pat will continue to work with his grantees until Karen is caught up to speed on our business processes. He will also maintain some ENRTF/OHF contracts in his new role within our team.

We are very excited to have Karen join our team and we are very happy for Pat and his new opportunity!

Mileage and Meal Rates Changes

On January 1st, the mileage and meal rates changed. The mileage rate dropped from $.565 per mile to $.56. The meal rate also saw a change as the maximum amount for breakfast increased to $9, $11 for lunch, and $16 dinner. The previous maximum amounts were $7 for breakfast, $9 for lunch, and $15 for dinner.

Please note these changes as you seek reimbursement in 2014 if you have mileage or meals listed in your approved accomplishment and work plans.
