DNR’s Public Comment Opportunity on Draft PolyMet Dam Safety and Public Waters Work Remains Open Through October 16, 2017

PolyMet

On September 15, 2017, DNR announced a 30-day public comment period on draft dam safety and public waters work permits for the proposed NorthMet project. The proposed project would require two dam safety permits and one public waters work permit.  DNR has posted the applications for these permits and related technical documents on its project website, beginning in July 2016.

Since the start of the comment period, DNR has received two letters requesting an extension of the public comment period for the two draft dam safety permits.  DNR has reviewed and considered theses requests and has determined that the public comment period will remain open through October 16, 2017, as outlined in the original announcement.

This GovDelivery notice confirms the information DNR provided on September 15 and is intended to avoid any public uncertainty regarding the duration of the comment period.

DNR will accept written public comments on the two draft dam safety and the draft public waters work permits until October 16, 2017. Please include the words "NorthMet Dam Safety" or "NorthMet Public Waters" in the title of your comment email or letter.

Written comments may be submitted no later than October 16, 2017 by email to: NorthMetPermitting.DNR@state.mn.us or by U.S. mail to:
