Larry Perkins receiving the Snowmobile Instructor of the Year award from CO Tyler Quandt
The 2015 Snowmobile Safety Instructor of the Year award recipient is Larry Perkins of Red Wing, MN.
Perkins is a founding member of the Red Wing River View Riders (formerly known as the Minni-Wis Chargers, incorporated in 1968) and was involved in setting up the original local trails in the early days of organized snowmobiling. He continues to maintain trails and be a valuable, active club member.
Perkins has been a certified DNR Safety Instructor for 40 years and has used this training and volunteerism to effectively instruct new riders for over 40 years. He takes pride in his teaching, as evidenced by his welcoming of questions, and using real-life examples to reinforce concepts. His friendly and approachable demeanor helps reduce anxiety in students, and gives them a high quality learning experience.
Congratulations, Larry!

The Eddlestons: James (left); Eugene (middle), and William (right).
It isn't every day we have the opportunity to present a 40-year service award to a volunteer who has two siblings before him who have received a 40-year service award for their volunteer efforts.
Meet the Eddleston brothers - James (L) received his award in 2012; his brother, Eugene, (M) in 2013, and William (R) received his 40-year award this year at a firearms safety class currently underway in Roseville.
Between the three of them, they have a total of 128 years of volunteering and teaching the Minnesota DNR Firearms Safety and Hunter Education program to youth in the Metro.
Our thanks to Jim and Eugene, for their continued efforts, and our congratulations to William!
Volunteer Instructor Richard Parker of Grand Marais, recently passed away in February. Richard taught ATV, Snowmobile, and Firearms Safety classes since 2004. He was named ATV Instructor of the Year in 2008. Our sympathies go out to Richard's family and friends.

The IHEA-USA Instructor Advisory Committee is interested in knowing what types of training instructors would like to see provided in an online internet platform. As educators, you are on the front line in educating the public on Hunter Education, Hunter Safety, Conservation, and much more. The IHEA is exploring the need for online internet training interests in several different areas, and needs your input.
