Grant funding available
DLI has grant funding available for organizations to do outreach and education about the Minnesota earned sick and safe time (ESST) law and the Women's Economic Security Act (WESA), which includes workplace rights and protections for new and expectant parents.
The goal of these grants is to increase employers' and workers' awareness and understanding of these laws.

ESST fact sheet translated
A new fact sheet provides an overview of Minnesota's ESST law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, 2024. The fact sheet is now available in English, Hmong, Somali and Spanish.
Learn more about the ESST law at dli.mn.gov/sick-leave. Additional resources will be added as they become available.

Webinar: Laws affecting pregnant, lactating employees
DLI is providing a series of webinars to help workers and employers better understand the state's wage and hour laws.
The next webinar will include information about workplace provisions supporting nursing and lactating employees. Presenters and the topics they will be discussing include:
- U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division -- federal law provisions, including the recently enacted PUMP Act, covering expressing milk in the workplace and related workplace accommodations.
- DLI -- new and existing state law provisions regarding pregnant employee accommodations, expressing milk in the workplace and other aspects of WESA.
- Minnesota Department of Health -- programs to assist employers implement supportive workplace breastfeeding practices, including the Breastfeeding Friendly Recognition program.
