The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) has created a series of videos that review various wage and hour laws for employers and employees. The roughly one-to-five-minute videos review topics such as employee notice requirements, minimum wage and recordkeeping.

There are also videos geared toward those who work in the construction, restaurant and hospitality, and personal care assistant or home health care industries.

Available videos

A new webpage containing all the Labor Standards videos can be found at www.dli.mn.gov/labor-standards-videos.

Apply for a Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA) grant

DLI is requesting proposals for engagement and outreach activities related to state wage and hour laws for expectant and new parents. Grants will promote education, outreach, communication, engagement and training to build worker and employer understanding of Minnesota laws addressing:

  • lactating employee rights to express milk in the workplace;
  • pregnant worker rights to workplace accommodations; and
  • state pregnancy and parental leave.

Detailed information about existing and new requirements can be found at www.dli.mn.gov/newparents.

Information about the grants, including how to apply, can be found at www.dli.mn.gov/business/employment-practices/womens-economic-security-act-wesa-engagement-and-education-grant.

New WESA brochure available

DLI has created a brochure that reviews wage and hour laws for expectant and new parents. The brochure is available in English, Hmong, Somali and Spanish.

DLI is partnering with health care providers, community organizations, agencies and others to distribute the brochures. If you would like to receive the brochures free of charge, email Dave Skovholt at david.skovholt@state.mn.us.
