City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Council. To learn more about specific programs click on the following links:

  • Minneapolis Works 
    Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.
  • Minneapolis Youth Works 
    Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.
  • Dislocated Worker Program
    Comprehensive services for those who have lost their job through no fault of their own for adult ages 18 and older.
  • Train-to-Career

The MnDOT-DEED Highway Heavy Construction Training Program
A program designed to reduce historic disparities found in the ratios of minorities and women within the Minnesota highway construction industry. The MnDOT-DEED HHCT-2015 program will launch its fifth year in providing occupational training that will be of significant benefit to women and minorities in Minnesota.

Women in Technical Careers is a scholarship program to help female students succeed in a technical degree program at Dunwoody and launch into a great career. Program participants receive a scholarship as well as advising and support services to ensure their success at Dunwoody.

Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota Seeking Women for Non-Traditional Jobs Grants Program
Goodwill-Easter Seals received funding through the state’s Women and High-Wage, High-Demand, Nontraditional Jobs Grant Program to help low income women and women over age 50 enter the construction trades.  Interested women will participate in 12 weeks of hands-on training in construction that includes job placement assistance.
