Jay, a former mechanical engineer from IBM, was referred to a veteran’s representative at the Winona WorkForce Center -- and enrolled in the federal Workforce Investment Act Dislocated Worker program. He  received help with his resume and cover letter, unearthed job leads and practiced mock interviews. That came in handy when a potential employer asked Jay the same questions he'd been asked in practice sessions. He even acquired interview attire. Today Jay is working at Hearth & Home Technologies in Lake City. Jay's advice for others? 'Go to the WorkForce Center and start talking to people. I talked with the receptionist, was set up to talk with a counselor and quickly enrolled in the WIA DW Program.' You can find a Dislocated Worker Program service provider here.
