Minnesota Makes Its Case for ADM

Export Initiative Wins National Award
The Minnesota Trade Office, the city of Minneapolis and GREATER MSP were honored last week by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for their effort to drive economic growth in the Twin Cities by increasing exports. Their “Minneapolis-Saint Paul Export Plan” won a bronze award during the 2013 IEDC annual conference in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Why IT Jobs are Hard to Fill
In the latest findings in DEED's ongoing Hiring Difficulties Study, employers said 37 percent of their openings in IT were hard to fill. A lack of skills, however, was the main factor in only about one-third of those difficult-to-fill openings. Other factors that made IT jobs hard to fill included uncompetitive wages, inconvenient work hours, poor work locations, or a mix of skills deficiencies and unattractive job characteristics.
