The Energy Careers Academy trains and supports the next generation of energy workers and leaders. Academy classes will be held at the Xcel Riverside Training Center in Northeast Minneapolis! The Academy is taught by Minnesota State Community and Technical College instructors, offering degree programs in Electrical Line Worker Technology and Gas Utility Construction and Service Worker. Minnesota State provides all course curriculum, accreditation, and instructors for the academy programs, as well as student support and career services.

As part of Black Business Week, EMERGE will be hosting a career and networking event on July 24, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The day will facilitate connections, promote employment and strengthen community ties. In addition to a food truck and mobile learning lab with VR career exploration, there will be business booths, networking, panels and workshops, such as the Connect Up! workshop. Through this workshop, attendees will:
- Generate digital strategies that cost little to nothing, but provide maximum return
- Understand your core message and target audience
- Identify the best social channels will best achieve your goals
- Consider how you interact with followers in a fun and engaging way
- Receive hands-on learning in platforms like Canva, Meta, or Hootsuite
- Receive 1:1 technical support, along with a workbook
