Minnesota Customized Employment (MN-CE) Training Announcement for Winter 2024

Training for Students or Auditors every other week Tuesdays

We are pleased to announce the next round of Virtual Minnesota Customized Employment (MN-CE) Training. This training is for Students (those who will be completing a full Discovery process during the training) and Auditors (those who are taking the course for knowledge on customized employment) beginning January 9th, 2024. Each person who registers for the course must watch a pre-training video which provides necessary information for students and outlines the requirements for the course. The pre-training link is:  https://www.zoomgov.com/rec/share/D6idQlkQl_SEMcfqB7VltiSKSrVa0SuPIiHW4f1iqQqZqZ_h2ECm4W5yNt7usaf3.HcgzLW2mux6YV7-C. For those who register as students and are completing a Discovery process with a job seeker, a mentor will be assigned to work closely with you.  If completing a Discovery, have the job seeker identified and ready to initiate the Discovery process on or about January 9th. If you need a Discovery referral, please reach out to your contacts, and see if there is a job seeker candidate who needs CE Discovery in your local area. You may find a referral through your current services or contact your local VR office. It is important to note that this training is entirely virtual via Zoom. Upon registration you will receive a letter of acceptance into the training and all of the Zoom training links to download onto your calendar. This training has been approved for 36 CRC credits or 40 CEU's

Training Details

MN-CE training spans 14 weeks with training occurring on Tuesdays from 9:00-12:30pm CST. Classes meet every other Tuesday through Session 7, then weekly for the last 3 sessions covering Job Development. Class dates are January 9th, January 23rd, February 6th, February 20th, March 5th, March 19th, April 2nd, April 9th, and April 16th. Each class participant who attends and completes all 9 training sessions will receive an Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) certification with an emphasis in Customized Employment. Since this is a national credential, it is important to attend each session. An ACRE certificate is required for any practitioner who obtains funding from VRS or SSB. In addition, the practitioner must pass a Competency Review Process through VRS after achieving the ACRE Certificate.

The training will be offered for free for the remainder of 2024. Registration space is limited to 60 participants for each cohort. Priority will be given to agencies ending sub-minimum wages and agencies who provide services in locations with limited CE capacity which includes the south and east metro. If there is more demand than space, you will be given priority to the next class. Please contact Margie.webb@state.mn.us for registration requests.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations to attend this virtual event should contact Margie Webb no later than January 1, 2024.
