7/1/2023 Reauthorizations

Vocational Rehabilitation Services header

Dear Community Partners:

The start of State Fiscal Year 2024 is quickly approaching, which means you will be seeing new authorizations!

Please know that VRS is working diligently to ensure VRS Participants and Community Partners do not experience a gap in service, however, with the State Fiscal Year start landing on Saturday July 1, this provides some complications to the process.

If services are needed on 7/1 or 7/2/2023:

If a participant requires services over the weekend (7/1/2023 or 7/2/2023), VRS will extend an existing authorization end date or create a new authorization with a 6/30/23 start date and a 7/2/23 end date.

Example: VRS Participant needs hourly job coaching over the weekend.

  • If there is currently an authorization in place for job coaching with remaining job coaching hours and services are needed 7/1 and/or 7/2, VRS will extend the current authorization end date to 7/2/2023 to cover job coaching services provided over the weekend.
  • If an authorization does not currently exist or does not have additional hours remaining, a new authorization will be created to cover the job coaching hours with an end date of 7/2/23.

For all services beginning 7/3/2023 or later:

New authorizations will be issued on Monday July 3rd for all services that start Monday 7/3/2023 or later.

P/T Contracted Services Not Affected by the State Fiscal Year:

  • Special programming on P/T contracts that started prior to 6/30 and goes beyond 7/1
  • Benefits Analysis Reports authorized 1 EA and started prior to 6/30
  • Performance Based Agreements (PBAs) started prior to 6/30
