Next Steps: Serving Minneapolis Public Schools Students

Dear VRS Community Partners,

Background

Minneapolis Public Schools have partnered with VRS, the Minnesota Department of Education, and two VRS Community Partners for the past two school years to create and pilot an interagency process for providing Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) for students with disabilities in Minneapolis Public Schools. That process for serving students in Minneapolis Public Schools will now be the consistent approach to serving students across all Minneapolis public high schools.

Requirements to Serve Minneapolis Public Schools Students

In order for a VRS Community Partner to serve a student in Minneapolis Public Schools, a VRS Community Partner must complete the following steps:

  • Training: Review the recorded training for Community Partners related to the process for serving students in Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS).
  • Paperwork: Complete Minneapolis Public Schools requirements outlined on the Minneapolis Public Schools website: https://cpo.mpls.k12.mn.us/deed.html

If you have any questions, please reach out to Alyssa Klein, VRS Youth Services Coordinator, at Alyssa.Klein@state.mn.us.

My best,

Kim
