Minneapolis Job Seeker Bulletin

Help find your Career with Career Works!

Career Works provides adults with career coaching and skills training. Whether you are a new high school graduate or someone who wants a new career, we can help. We help people find jobs in high-demand occupations, like: Healthcare, IT, Manufacturing, Construction, and Administrative/professional services in both the private and public sector.

You may qualify for this program if you:

  • Are age 18 or older
  • Qualify as low-income
  • Meet other qualifying criteria

All services are free and tailored to fit individuals needs. Services include: career counseling, free computer lab access, resume writing assistance (including creating online resumes), skills assessment and training to enhance skills, and free jobseeker workshops.

If you have been laid off (or notified that a layoff is coming) through no fault of your own, we offer services at no cost that focus on preparing you to find a suitable new job.

Our Dislocated Worker Program services are designed to help workers who have been laid off get back to work as quickly as possible through services like:

  • Career planning and counseling
  • Counselor-approved training
  • Job search and placement services
  • Limited funds for support services

  • Weekly Job Club Activity Group Meetings - Every Monday and Tuesday - Virtual and in-person at Hosmer Library 327 E. 36th Street. Register for each separate Monday or Tuesday afternoon under JOB CLUB.

To save households even more, the Biden-Harris Administration secured commitments from leading internet providers to offer ACP-eligible high-speed internet plans that are fully covered. As a result, millions of households can get free, high-speed internet.

  • The White House launched GetInternet.gov — a one-stop shop to check eligibility, sign up, and find fully covered plans.

Employment and Training Programs

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. Our programs:

Career Pathways Trainings offer job seekers free or low-cost, accelerated trainings that prepare them for careers in high demand job sectors including Healthcare, IT, Public Safety and the Trades.

Minneapolis Works - Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.

Career Works - Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.

Minneapolis Youth Works - Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.

Dislocated Worker Program - Comprehensive services for those who have lost their job through no fault of their own for adult ages 18 and older.
