A new four-year State Plan for Minnesota’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program is now available for review and can be downloaded by clicking the “State Plan” tab on the state’s website.

With a full-time staff of more than 350 across the state, Minnesota’s VR program provides counseling and career services that assist students and adults with disabilities to achieve high quality careers in the communities they live in. The State Plan describes in detail how the program intends to deliver services, collaborate with other public and private organizations, and evaluate and measure its performance. It also provides an assessment of the state’s current and anticipated VR needs and establishes program goals and priorities for the next four years. The new State Plan took effect on July 1, 2020 and covers the four years ending June 30, 2023.

State VR programs prepare and publish a State Plan as one of the requirements to receive annual grant funding through a federal/state partnership. Minnesota VR currently receives 74.9 percent of its funding through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and 25.1 percent from a Minnesota state appropriation. The program is administered by Vocational Rehabilitation Services, a division of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
