Emergency Rental Assistance due to COVID-19

Hennepin County residents who have been financially harmed by COVID-19 may qualify for emergency assistance to help with rent and other housing costs. 

You may qualify for emergency rental assistance if you:

  • Rent your housing anywhere in Hennepin County
  • Had household income below 50% of the area median income (about $46,550 for a household of three) before COVID-19
  • Lost income due to COVID-19 that has not been replaced by unemployment insurance or other emergency assistance
  • Can't afford your housing costs this month
  • Are not currently receiving Section 8 or other rental assistance

Twin Cities Hospitality and Event Workers Relief Fund

The Twin Cities Hospitality and Events Workers’ Relief Effort supports those who lost earnings due to business closures and event cancellations due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Through the fund, workers may access direct financial support of up to $200.00 to assist with rent and mortgage payments, utilities and other essential expenses.

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. Our programs:

Career Pathways Trainings offer job seekers free or low-cost, accelerated trainings that prepare them for careers in high demand job sectors including Healthcare, IT, Public Safety and the Trades.

Minneapolis Works - Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.

WIOA Adult - Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.

Minneapolis Youth Works - Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.

Dislocated Worker Program - Comprehensive services for those who have lost their job through no fault of their own for adult ages 18 and older.
