Adult Career Pathways’ Partner Express articles usually include information about WorkForce One (WF1), and with good reason! The data you enter into Workforce One is what DEED uses to understand what your program is accomplishing. It also tells us where you might benefit from technical assistance. Even more significantly, WF1 is the source for the data we report to the legislature and to policy makers. These data have direct bearing on whether existing grantees continue to be funded. They also figure in decisions about which applicants will be awarded grants. Therefore, it is important for you to enter data reflecting your work into WF1 completely, correctly, and timely.
WorkForce One Case Management Training
Adult Career Pathways Coordinators will be providing WF1 case management training at locations around the state in December and January, including Minneapolis, Rochester, Duluth, Mankato, St. Paul, and St. Cloud. If your staff have questions about case management data that must be entered in WF1, or simply are not as comfortable working in WF1 as they’d like to be, plan to have them attend this training.

Categorizing Activities in Workforce One
Make sure you are categorizing your programs accurately and comprehensively in Workforce One!
For Pathways to Prosperity:
- Categorize Training that is intended to lead to a credential as Integrated Education Training (IET)/Bridge Programs
- Categorize Training that will NOT lead to a credential as On-Ramp Training
For all other ACP programs:
- Categorize Training that is intended to lead to a credential as Credentialed Coursework/Training
- Categorize Training that will NOT lead to a credential as Non-Credentialed Training
Continue to categorize Work Readiness, Basic Skills, GED, ESL/ELL or ABE trainings under their own respective activities.

Co-enrollment of Displaced Homemakers in the Dislocated Worker Program
Generally, any individual who is currently enrolled in Minnesota’s Displaced Homemaker Program (DHP) who is compliant with Selective Service Registration is automatically eligible for co-enrollment in the Dislocated Worker Program (DWP). Eligibility guidelines for the Minnesota’s Dislocated Worker Program include displaced homemakers as one of the definitions of a dislocated worker.
Please note that DHP participants seeking to applicants must still meet the general eligibility requirements of DWP relating to citizenship or right to work in the United States, Selective Service Registration, age, residency, and employment.
Minimize Disallowed Costs for Subcontractor Goods and Services
Remember that DEED can and will only pay costs for goods and services supplied by subgrantees/subcontractors if contracts are fully executed before those costs are incurred. This means that authorized individuals from both parties must have signed and dated the contract. Please note that the contract start date cannot pre-date the date on which the last party signs. Therefore, it is important for you and your subgrantees/subcontractor agree on your respective responsibilities and rights under the contract; commit that agreement to writing; and sign before a subgrantee or subcontractor starts work.
