The holiday season is inching closer, and many retailers and transportation companies have bolstered their staffs to handle the crunch. But this year, a Minnesota expert says there might be a shift in how some of that extra work is handed out.
The Rogers City Council Nov. 12 approved a redevelopment grant contract with DEED. Rogers was informed in September that it had been awarded a $350,000 DEED redevelopment grant. Rogers was one of five cities to be awarded a share of the $2 million available through the DEED program, according to a memo to the council from Jason Ziemer, Rogers city planner and Community Development coordinator.
In Minnesota’s tight labor market, some industries have struggled more than others to fill open jobs. So it’s been a longstanding goal of politicians, business and education leaders to steer people into high-demand work that typically doesn’t require a four-year degree.
