Adult Career Pathways Updates

Competitive Grants SFY20-21

On June 5th, the Office of Adult Career Pathways posted Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for four grants for SFY20 and SFY21; Pathways to Prosperity (P2P); Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA); Southeast Asian; and Support Services. Award announcements are expected the first week of September.

Documentation to Support Participant Eligibility

The Office of Adult Career Pathways guidance, Documentation Needed to Support Participant Eligibility, has been updated to include changes in math/reading assessment, MN residency, and Selective Service compliance requirements. Generally, requirements have been relaxed for state programs in order to facilitate enrollment.

Documentation Needed to Support Participant Eligibility can be found on: https://mn.gov/deed/programs-services/adult-career-pathways/. The grant specific guidance has been posed under each grant’s name. Please use this chart to determine participant eligibility. Should you have any questions, contact your Grant Coordinator.

Direct Appropriation Grants SFY20-21

Contracts for most direct appropriations grants have been sent. If you have not received a contract, make sure that you have responded to all information requests we have sent. If there are no outstanding questions, contact your program coordinator.

As you begin a new grant, remember that it is critical to keep participant data up to date in Workforce One (WF1). DEED uses WF1 data to evaluate your success in reaching outcomes on your grant, as well as the success of the entire grant program. Please make sure that you have trained WF1 administrator on staff. Your program coordinator can provide training for key staff in your organization in order to enable them to assist other in your organizations who need to use WF1.

At this time, the next open all day training for WF1 is December 3rd. Check WF1 for a schedule.

Fall Roundtables
TAA is once again touring the state this fall with a Roundtable Tour. We are finalizing the dates and locations; watch for a newsflash with registration details soon. We look forward to seeing you!

Schedules and Grades
TAA needs copies of students’ course schedules before the term begins and grades after each term.

  • Schedules need to show: number of credits, dates of each course, and days of the week and location where classes meet. TAA uses this information to confirm full-time status, calculate number of training weeks, and confirm transportation is accurately paid. TAA also needs to ensure there is a purchase order sent to the appropriate school(s).
  • Grades need to show: Credits earned, grades for each course, and GPA. TAA uses this information to confirm the customer is making satisfactory progress, and completed the term as approved.

Training Progress Reports
Training Progress Reports (TPRs) are due at least every 60 calendar days, year-round for every TAA customer in training.

  • Dislocated Worker Counselors, please review the TPR and sign and date it before sending to TAA. DW should not make changes to the TPR.
  • The 60 days reset each time from the date the school official signs the form – not the DW Counselor’s signature
  • N/A is not an acceptable response – if the school official wrote N/A because they can’t answer the question then it’s not the correct school official to be completing the form
  • Every instructor should sign the instructor section for his/her respective class
