State Awards $3.4 Million in Redevelopment Cleanup Grants

DEED on Wednesday awarded $3.4 million in cleanup grant funds to 15 redevelopment projects across the state. DEED estimates that these funds will draw $245.7 million in private investment for the projects. The funding is awarded through DEED’s Contamination Cleanup and Investigation Grants Program.

Wilkin’s May unemployment rate lower than state’s

Wilkin County’s unemployment rate for May was lower than that of the state of Minnesota. Unemployment in Minnesota is holding at 3.3 percent according to DEED. Wilkin County’s unemployment rate for May was at 2.7 percent, not seasonally adjusted according to statistics on the DEED website.

Governor Tim Walz has declared July “Hire a Veteran Month" to encourage Minnesota employers to connect the state's 153,000 military service members of working age with employment opportunities in July and throughout the year.
