The city of Carver has received a nearly $1 million state grant to cover half the cost of building infrastructure for a new headquarters for Lakeview Industries, a manufacturing firm moving there from neighboring Chaska. The $977,134 grant came to Carver from DEED through its Innovative Business Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program, which helps cover costs for newly locating or expanding businesses.

As technology continues to change the American workplace and the U.S. economy, roughly one quarter of jobs in the country are at high risk of becoming largely automated in the next decade and beyond, according to a new report from The Brookings Institution, a Washington, D.C., think tank.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has grand plans for the state’s technology sector while in office. At a “Session Priorities” dinner hosted by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce in January, the DFLer told the crowd that when people think about cities with thriving tech scenes, he hopes they won’t envision “just Palo Alto, Seattle or Austin. It needs to be Minneapolis.”
