VRS_New Director to Start January 9

I’m happy to announce that Larry Vrooman will be the new VRS director, starting Wednesday, January 9. Larry has been with the Rehabilitation Services Administration for many years and, until this year, was Minnesota’s state liaison with RSA. Our agency has known and worked extensively with Larry over the past several years – and there’s no doubt that he knows and understands the work that we do. He’ll be able to hit the ground running. In addition to his work federally with the Rehabilitation Services Administration in D.C., Larry has experience locally with the Division of Rehabilitation in South Dakota. Larry’s background includes extensive experience with federal VR policy and multiple state VR programs. His unique combination of people and budget management, VR/WIOA program knowledge, and partnership-building skills will bring great value to our work.

Larry has dedicated his professional career to creating meaningful independence for people with significant disabilities through substantial competitive integrated employment. I know that Larry looks forward to getting around the state and getting to know all VRS staff and partners. I’m excited that he will be part of the team, and I hope you will be too.
