This DEED grant, given to the Minnesota High Tech Association, will focus on giving STEM college students payed internships. The program exists to help build and maintain Minnesota's STEM workforce. Each business that participates will receive $2,500 to go towards the cost of paying for the intern's salary.

Orion Investments plans to redevelop took a big step forward when DEED announced a $350,000 grant for abatement on Tuesday. The grant will help offset the costs of demolishing the old building .
“Redevelopment grants and loans are a good taxpayer investment, with the latest round of projects attracting $151.8 million in private money,” DEED Commissioner Shawntera Hardy said in a statement.
DEED awarded $2.16 million in grants and loans for eight redevelopment projects in Minnesota. The agency awarded seven grants under its Redevelopment Grant Program for projects in Battle Lake, Edina, Fridley, Mankato, Minneapolis (two) and Winona. In addition, DEED approved a loan from its Demolition Loan Program for a project in Braham.
The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded DEED a $2.5 million pilot grant through the Retraining Employment and Talent After Injury/Illness Network (RETAIN). The Minnesota RETAIN project will serve Minnesota residents who are unable to perform their regular work due to an injury or illness.
