Stoneridge Software Moving to Historic Building in Barnesville

Stoneridge Software is relocating its corporate office to the newly renovated historic T. Gunness building in downtown Barnesville, a city in Clay County, about 25 miles southeast of the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area. A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be held this Wednesday. DEED supported the project with a $140,000 grant from the Job Creation Fund.

State Gains 11,200 Jobs in July; Jobless Rate Drops to 3 Percent

Minnesota employers added 11,200 jobs in July, according to seasonally adjusted figures released by DEED last week. Over the past year, Minnesota has gained 59,931 jobs, a 2 percent growth rate. The U.S. growth rate during that period was 1.8 percent. The state unemployment rate fell to an 18-year low of 3 percent.

DEED will have more than $4 million in grants and loans available this fall for investigating and cleaning up contamination at proposed redevelopment sites in Minnesota. If you want to learn more about the Contamination Cleanup and Investigation Grant Program, plan on attending one of the agency's upcoming workshops. Sessions are set for this Friday in Duluth, Aug. 29 in Mankato and Sept. 13 in Fergus Falls. More details are on the DEED website.

A goal of the one-day event was to increase awareness of Minnesota Business First Stop, which Gov.
