Thrivent Financial is getting a little help from the state as it starts work on its new downtown Minneapolis headquarters.

The nonprofit financial services organization is building a 350,000-square-foot office building. In support of the project, DEED awarded $755,756 to clean up petroleum and other pollutants on the 2.51-acre block.

The Thrivent project is one of 13 awarded DEED contamination cleanup grants earlier this month. A mixed-use apartment project in Uptown (shown in the rendering above) also received cleanup funding.
