Training Opportunities

Banking Training
PPL’s Train to Work Banking program helps participants get started as a bank teller or personal banker with soft skills training, networking opportunities, and first round interviews with local bank managers. (Free)
     * Program begins July 30.

Green Construction Training
A HIRED 20-day training starting mid-September at Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park. Get trained quickly and start a new career.
      * Program begins July 9 and August 13

Healthcare Clerical program is here to prepare you for clerical and administrative positions in the growing healthcare field.
     * Applications accepted starting July 2018
     * Program begins October 8

Free Workshops at PPL in Minneapolis and St. Paul

 Avivo (formerly RESOURCE) offers eight industry-specific, training programs at their Twin Cities’ locations. Find program and start dates online. City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. To learn more about specific programs click on the following links:

  • Minneapolis Works 
    Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.
  • WIOA Adult
    Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.
  • Minneapolis Youth Works
    Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.
  • Dislocated Worker Program
    Comprehensive services for those who have lost their job through no fault of their own for adult ages 18 and older.
