Promising Results for Pursuit Vascular

For the past year, a startup company in Maple Grove called Pursuit Vascular has been having its product quietly tested on thousands of patients who visit dialysis clinics. So far, the product's ability to reduce infections looks very promising. The company participated in DEED's Angel Tax Credit Program from 2010 to 2014, raising $4 million.

Addressing the Demand for Workers

Across Minnesota, employers are having more trouble than they used to finding and keeping employees. They’re making more efforts to accommodate workers with more flexible schedules, they’re offering support to workers living on the margins in an effort to retain them, and in some cases they’re raising wages. Training programs, such as DEED’s Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, are also helping to fill employment needs.

Construction executives

State Gains 5,000 Jobs in November
Minnesota employers added 5,000 jobs in November, according to seasonally adjusted figures released last week by DEED. The state’s unemployment rate dropped 0.2 percent in November to 3.8 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate in November was 4.6 percent.

DEED Awards Housing Funding
Rental housing projects in four Greater Minnesota communities have been approved for $2.87 million in grants from DEED. The funding was awarded under the Workforce Housing Development Program for projects in Worthington, Warroad, Glenwood and Lutsen.

ERC Opening Willmar Call Center
Florida-based Enhanced Resource Centers (ERC) plans to open a call center in the former Kandiyohi Power Cooperative building in Willmar. The company said it will create up to 238 new positions and invest $2 million in building improvements over the next three years. DEED is supporting the project with a $563,183 grant from the Job Creation Fund.
