African Immigrant Success Stories Commissioner Hardy was the keynote speaker at an African Development Center event celebrating the business success of African immigrants and refugees in Minnesota. "Of the 17 Fortune 500 companies based in Minnesota -- some of the state's oldest and most respected companies -- six were founded by immigrants or their children," she said. "So don't let anyone tell you that immigrants are a drain on the economy. They are part of that engine that is keeping it going."

The day’s events include a proclamation and White Cane Safety Awareness Walk at
