Open? Not just yet.
But, construction is underway at 800 West Broadway, scheduled to open in October.
This center is a unique collaborative effort in North Minneapolis that will bring together employment services, education, health care and community organizations dedicated to building prosperity in North Minneapolis.
The center is a collaboration of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development's (DEED) North Minneapolis WorkForce Center, Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS), and NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center.
These organizations are committed to reducing obstacles to success in North Minneapolis and are ushering in a new and unique partnering model in this new facility, to help bring about change for those we serve.
Working collectively, we believe barriers to success can be reduced and current service gaps can be filled. Within this new center, our organizations will strive to eliminate the silos that separate our work, so that we can be more successful in serving the community.
Our commitments include:
- Helping whoever comes in the door, regardless if the service is offered in the building or elsewhere.
- Using the “Community as Campus” approach to working with individuals, utilizing resources provided by agencies and organizations throughout North Minneapolis, limiting costly duplication of services.
- Being open to new processes that move people toward their goals.
- Promoting full utilization of the space at 800 West Broadway by offering training and classrooms for community use, and hours of service running into the evenings.
800 West Broadway will bring together the resources North Minneapolis needs to capitalize on the untapped assets of the community, strengthening both our community and economy.
