INSIDER TIP

How to Make a Splash at Job Fairs
Job fairs offer a great opportunity to connect with employers. They could lead to a job interview, expand your network, or result in a job on-the-spot. To make the most out of job fairs, you should:

  1. Post your resume on MinnesotaWorks
    before the job fair.
  2. Find a Job Fair
Find a job fair that has the fields you are interested in working in and that fits in your schedule. Arrange for others to take care of family responsibilities beforehand.
  3. Prepare for the Job Fair
Develop a one-minute introduction to start a conversation. Also bring your portfolio that has your resume, letter of recommendations, work samples, certifications and awards.
  4. Attend the Job Fair
Remember, attending is key. Dress to impress and prepare questions that show interest.
  5. After the Job fair
Impress employers by sending them a thank you letter or contact them to remind them of your continuous interest.
