The DOC EMPLOY Program hosted a hybrid Lunch & Learn on Fair Chance Hiring Practices

The audience included employers who have partnered with the Department of Corrections and consider hiring individuals returning to our communities.  Also in attendance were community partners that provide employment services, credential training, and support services.

The focus of the presentation was to educate employers on the laws and best practices when considering potential candidates that have criminal backgrounds.  Likewise, to understand how to apply the gravity of the criminal background in relation to the position job tasks.  In most instances, the employer will find that the nature of the background does not have an impacted on the job tasks for which the candidate has applied for.  Contact the DOC EMPLOY Program to learn more.
